Rep. Shields to Host Four Community Forums
Portland, ORE, 2006. - State Representative Chip Shields will be hosting a series of Community Forums during the months of February though April on issues pressing to residents of House District 43-- the district which encompasses inner North and Northeast Portland. The forums will cover: living wage jobs; the War in Iraq; health care; and schools.
"At this critical time in Oregon's history, it is more important than ever that we come together as a community to share ideas and concerns on these vital issues," said Rep Shields.
In addition to Rep Shields sharing his views, he is encouraging members of the public to come forward with their ideas to help set his legislative agenda.

State Representative Chip Shields Announces
New position of House Democratic Assistant Leader
Portland, OR Sep 12, 2005 By the selection of his collegues, Rep Shields has been chosen Assistant Leader for the House Democrats. The main task for the newly elected leader is crafting a legislative agenda for the next session.
"I am excite to craft an agenda that inlcudes quality schools, affordable healthcare, and an emphasis on living wage jobs," stated Shields. "It is important we are mindful of working Oregonians, as well as our most vulnerable citizens."
Rep. Shields is finishing his first term in the Oregon House of Representatives. Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives in 2004, Rep. Shields served as Executive Director of Better People, a non-profit, job placement and counseling program focused on helping people who had been in trouble with the law. Since its founding, Better People has helped hundreds find living wage jobs.
Town Hall Coffee with Rep. Shields
Sat. Aug. 20
Representative Chip Shields (D-NE Portland) will hold a Town Hall Coffee from 10 a.m. until 11:30 am on Saturday, August 20, 2005. The Town Hall will be held at Reflections Coffee at 446 NE Killingsworth in Portland.
During the Town Hall Representative Shields will provide a re-cap of the 2005 legislative session, discuss issues of importance to residents of District 43, and answer questions from constituents. The event is free and open to the public.
